Power Rangers Movie: First Impressions
I know this is supposed to be a Super Sentai blog, but Kyuuranger doesn't have any news yet, and I have just watched a trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers movie this March. I have heard about this movie since last year, but now that a trailer has appeared, it's time to show my first impressions.
This is what I noticed. For some reason, whenever there's a movie, they always try and make the characters have metallic armour, or make the characters very detailed and covered with spikes or something, just like in the Transformers movie, or Batman Vs Superman. Batman Vs Superman also has negative reviews.
Anyway, that's exactly what's happening in the Power Rangers Movie. The rangers look like colour-coded Iron Man suits.What makes it even worse is that there's no orange ranger. The trailer also shows Rita Repulsa, movie form, and also the soldiers. In Zyuranger, the Putty Patrollers were called Golems. However, in the movie, they actually look like golems, because they're made from stone. Also, Goldar is just a giant gold golem and not a griffon. The zords also look like the Transformers, but at least the Megazord doesn't look like its toy counterpart.
Now let's look at a Kamen Rider movie. In Kamen Rider Drive, which is a really good tv series because of Roidmude 009, there's a movie where an evil Kamen Rider Drive from the future appears. Despite being a movie, Kamen Rider Dark Drive wears very light armour that still follows the traditions of the average Kamen Rider TV show. The only thing that separates from the Kamen Rider elements is the form Kamen Rider Drive uses when using the Mach Driver. One of the greatest traditions of Super Sentai, starting with Dynaman, is to use spandex in the costumes. As for the Power Rangers, it is not spandex, according to Power Rangers RPM, but it practically has a similar role. However, the Power Rangers movie uses armour, which is also used a lot in Batman Vs Superman.
I have nothing to do with Shironinger.
