Defending the Orchid Ninja | Why Ran from Kakuranger is not evil

Hey guys, it is I, Kuroninja! Today I'm going to talk about something. Basically, there's a Sentai team who appears in Kakuranger, known as the Flowery Kunoichi Team. Many people recognize them as an evil Sentai, but I disagree! Now here's the thing: there are these Kuroninja fanfiction that have the Flowery Kunoichi Team as the good guys, so I'm going to challenge myself. I don't have any evidence to prove that the entire team of Hanarangers are not evil, but I can prove that one of them isn't evil. I'm going to prove that Ran, the purple ranger of the Hanarangers, isn't evil, and I shall do it without making any references to my fanfictions.

However, before I can prove that the orchid ninja isn't evil, I have to explain the Flowery Kunoichi Team, since not a lot of Super Sentai fans remember them. They first appear in Episode 15 of Kakuranger, created from cats to fight against the Kakurangers. Their colours are blue, pink, green, orange, and purple. The green one is my least favourite one.

Anyway, here's what you need to know about the Flowery Kunoichi Team. You might think that they're just another evil Sentai team like the Nezirangers from Megaranger, but they aren't really active: they only appear in episodes where they're needed for the major villain's evil plans, and they made a cameo at the end of episode 31 where they didn't even do anything. Also, we don't really know what they do when they aren't on a mission, until episode 39, where the narrator and a film crew break into the Yokai mansion and film everything. We find out that the Flowery Kunoichi Gang spend their time in an indoor pool. You might think that's irrelevant, but the monster of the week in Episode 8 of Kakuranger used to run a restaurant that serves human children as part of the menu. Which one sounds more evil: a restaurant where Yokai can eat children, or a swimming pool? Also, later in Episode 39, the Kunoichi Gang is present in Daimaou's throne room, and the narrator then gets caught. It isn't the Kunoichi Gang who throws the narrator off a bridge later, it's the Dorodoros (the foot soldiers in Kakuranger).

So I think that's all you need to know about the Flowery Kunoichi Team, but I'm now going to focus on Ran, the purple ranger of this "evil" Sentai team. Ran has the least amount of lines and doesn't really talk that much in the series. However, what if I told you that the reason why was because she's the least evil? In Episode 20 of Kakuranger, the Flowery Kunoichi Gang try to attack a little boy to try and defeat NinjaRed. Yuri, the orange ranger, and Ran, are sent to attack them. However, when the boy ends up in their trap, it's Yuri who attacks him more than Ran.

Now we shall go to later in Episode 20, where NinjaRed threw away his Doron Changer because the Yokai have jammed its signal. The Flowery Kunoichi Team then introduces themselves, and each of them say something to NinjaRed to show how weak NinjaRed is. Each of them except Ran.

Next we have episode 35 of Kakuranger, an episode that focuses on NinjaWhite. In this episode, the Yokai known as Kamaitachi assumes the role of a school pricipal as part of Daimaou's plan to turn the school's students into Yokai. The Flowery Kunoichi Team takes the role of teachers with specific roles to try and turn the students into Yokai, such as a history teacher who we see giving a lecture on Kamaitachi, a social studies teacher who teaches the students on how Yokai are the good guys, a cafeteria worker who creates a drink that turns students into Kamaitachi, a music teacher, and a PE teacher. Wait a minute... isnt it the good guys who promote fitness in tv shows? That's right, Ran has the least evil role in the Kamaitachi's plan. This also shows that she is friendly with children. While the others are tricking the students into joining the Yokai side, and music can be used to brainwash people (there are a lot of Sentai monsters who do this), It seems like all that Ran wanted to do was impress her students. She even gave a thumbs-up after doing a front flip! Oh, and by the way, if she was evil, then she would do something even more impressive than a front flip.

But there's a part in Episode 51 and 52 of Kakuranger, where it seems like Ran has become more evil and agressive. I can explain why. You see, in Episode 44, the Kakurangers destroyed the Yokai Mansion, so Daimaou had to relocate his base to a floating skull. Remember how I said that the Kunoichi Gang spends their spare time in an indoor pool? Well, I think Ran wanted revenge on the Kakurangers for destroying the indoor pool. The Kakurangers didn't even know it was there!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I have nothing to do with Shironinger!

UPDATE: I just noticed that in Episode 48, Ran attacks NinjaBlack but is easily defeteated, yet Sakura successfully defeats NinjaBlack after this. Based on episode 14, we know that Gashadokuro hates weakness, so it's obvious that he trained the Kunoichi Gang to be very powerful. I think that Ran was actually pretending to be weak so that the Kakurangers would win.
