Kuroninja Gold Episode 9

Episode 9: Ice Ninja of Despair

The Shadow Dimension was a place of darkness. There was only a little light going through, and the land was home to many shadow creatures. One of the many regions in the Shadow Dimension was the large city of Shadōkyō, and at the centre of Shadōkyō there was a large spire. This spire was the headquarters of Shadōkyō’s rulers, the Dark Domain Council, or DDC. They called themselves the DDC because they didn’t take any L’s.

The leader of the DDC was Necromega, the brother of Agemo. Necromega was jealous that his brother was an Interdimensional Guardian in charge of The Gauntlet, while Necromega was imprisoned in the Shadow Dimension. Because of this he felt jealous. He decided to make his own army. So far, his army only consisted of a few skeleton warriors that he reanimated himself, but one of his most powerful warriors was a denizen of the Shadow Dimension: Iroyas, the Ice Ninja of Despair.

Necromega and Iroyas were in the Shadōkyō Spire, when a portal opened. Out of the portal came Lord Nemesis, Bronzar, and an army of Nemesis Clan soldiers. Necromega brought out his staff and pointed it at Nemesis, while Iroyas got out her own weapon, a metal chain dart with a very sharp icicle at the end, which didn’t melt for some reason.

“Call off your weapons,” Lord Nemesis said. “We’re only here because you have something I want.”
“What do you want, Nemesis?” Necromega said. “This is DDC Territory.”
“I just want some of your Shadow Cores,” Lord Nemesis said.
“Sorry,” Necromega said, “but these Shadow Cores are for Shadow Dimensioners only.”
“I’m not here to steal them,” Lord Nemesis said. “I’m here to negotiate. Agent 12 here can be very persuasive…”
Suddenly, floating arrows with pink arrowheads began surrounding Necromega. However, Necromega wasn’t intimidated at all. The arrows struck Necromega, who simply just plucked them out of his skin and dropped them on the ground.

“What-?” Lord Nemesis said.
“That’s right,” Necromega said. “I spent most of my life here practicing necromancy as a way to deal with being trapped here. But you seem like a nice guy…You know what, I’ll give you the Shadow Cores, but only if you can amuse me. Iroyas here will be watching you and evaluating your progress. However, I must warn you…we are the DDC, and the DDC doesn’t take any L’s.”

Meanwhile, in the Material World, in Kuroninja’s dojo, Kuroninja’s students were practicing their ninja techniques, and it was time for another ninja lesson. The ninja students would have to find a partner for sparring.

Most of the ninja students were able to find a partner already, including Shinnosuke and Natsuki, who weren’t partners with each other. Both Shinnosuke and Natsuki had partnered up with one of the background characters whose names aren’t really mentioned in these stories. Kai Hirose, who was really shy, was having trouble finding a partner, so Haruna Nakamura decided to be friendly and offer to be Hirose’s partner. Antonio Vega was having trouble finding a partner, because everyone was too fast. After all this, there was only one other student in Kuroninja’s dojo without a partner: Sayori. Vega had no choice, so he sighed and partnered with Sayori.

Later, Haruna was in the washroom, so Hirose had to practice alone. However, he couldn’t find his trident anywhere, so he decided to look for it.
As for the others, they were ready for sparring. Antonio Vega and Sayori were called up first to give a demonstration. The rules were simple: no intentionally hurting your opponent, and the only way to win was by disarming your opponent, or by stepping outside the ring. There was also a 5-minute time limit.

Vega and Sayori went to their corners. Vega was used to being in a ring, despite this one having no ropes or anything that prevented someone from going out of the ring. Kuroninja gave the signal, and the sparring match began. Vega was fighting using a kendo stick, which he had to use due to the fact that he normally didn’t fight with a weapon. Sayori’s weapon was the rope dart, one of the most unorthodox choices for a ninja weapon.

In the match, Sayori was the fastest, and she threw her rope dart at Antonio’s hands, with the aim of disarming her opponent. However, Antonio Vega blocked the attack in time. It seemed like Antonio Vega knew where Sayori was going to attack. Vega then swung the kendo stick at Sayori, who blocked the attack using her rope dart. Sayori also seemed to know when and where Antonio Vega was going to attack her.

While this fight was going on, Haruna returned from the washroom, and at the same time, Hirose found his trident, which was on the floor.

Sayori and Antonio Vega were somehow evenly matched, countering each other’s moves. Vega then realized he couldn’t just use his basic attacks. Vega shot a fireball at Sayori’s hand, which wasn’t strong enough to hurt her, but strong enough to sting Sayori’s hand so she would let go of the rope dart. Sayori then saw the fireball and did a palm strike as the fireball was going towards her. Suddenly, a large burst of wind ripped the fireball apart and turned it into smoke. Sayori then changed strategies. She slashed at the air, creating blades of wind aimed at Vega, intending to push him out of the ring. Vega intercepted the blades of air and struck them with his fists. The blades of air burst into flames, and smoke surrounded the entire ring. Kuroninja was able to clear out the smoke before anyone breathed it. The timer then stopped. The sparring match was over, and it ended in a draw.

Although there was no winner, there was still something learned from this match: Sayori and Antonio Vega had surprisingly good chemistry between them.

Before the next match could begin, however, a random ninja student was running from where the washrooms were, and said that one of the toilets was acting weird. Kuroninja went to check.

Kuroninja entered the washroom, and one of the toilets was shaking violently. When Kuroninja went to get a closer look, the toilet seat flew off, and a large geyser flew out of the toilet. The water then started moving on its own. A water elemental had materialized in one of the toilets. The water elemental escaped the dojo, and everyone was shocked.

Kuroninja knew exactly what he had to do. He had to go after that water elemental before it could cause damage to the town. As for Vega, he decided to look for the elemental on his own.

Meanwhile, Iroyas was sitting down on the rooftop of a building, when she noticed the water elemental wandering around.
“So…” Iroyas said. “This is all they could come up with. The Nemesis Clan summoned a water elemental from a toilet. Not interesting enough.”
“Did you just say a water elemental?” Necromega said. “I have never seen any of them in a long time!”
“You do realize that elementals aren’t deadly,” Iroyas said.
“Not on their own,” Necromega said, “but they just need a little “motivation.”
“Fine,” Iroyas said. “But why are we even helping them anyway? I thought I was only here to observe.”
“Wouldn’t it hurt a little for you to have fun?” Necromega said. “You’ve been spending too much time in the Shadow Dimension, but at least you’re not locked in like me. Just relax a little.”
“Alright, how about this?” Iroyas said. She then formed an icicle into her hands.
“Ice Ninpō: Icicle of Control.”
Iroyas then threw the icicle at the water elemental’s head like a dart. The ice began floating in the water, before melting completely. The water elemental then stood still, with glowing light blue eyes. Iroyas was now controlling the water elemental like a puppet. The water elemental began destroying most of the buildings.

Kuroninja had caught up to the water elemental, but noticed something wrong. Elementals weren’t normally this violent, even if they were fire elementals, and they usually only attacked if provoked. This one was attacking on its own. Kuroninja had no idea if it was being controlled by someone, but it had to be stopped.

Meanwhile, Antonio Vega saw the water elemental from far away, and went to go after it, but then several icicles fell from the roof in front of Vega. This was very strange, because even though it was November, it wasn’t cold enough for anything to be frozen. Vega decided to investigate, as Kuroninja was dealing with the water elemental already.

Vega went onto the roof and saw someone on it, wearing dark grey armour and a black masked helmet with some sky blue accents. He knew that they weren’t supposed to be here. Antonio Vega prepared a fireball and slowly approached where this guy was, but then they suddenly attacked him with a chain dart, which had an icicle at the end. Antonio Vega had ran into Iroyas, Ice Ninja of Despair.

“Who are you?” Antonio Vega said.
“The name’s…Iroyas…Ice Ninja of Despair…” Iroyas said, preparing another attack.
Vega dodged the chain dart attacks, trying to stay alive. He then counterattacked with a fireball. Iroyas grabbed the fireball and extinguished it with her hands.
“How pathetic,” Iroyas said. She then created an icicle and threw it at Vega. Vega was having such a hard time dodging all the icicles, but now he found himself being cornered in a wall. Iroyas was about to kill him with her chain dart weapon.
“Stop running and get over here!” Iroyas said, throwing the chain dart at Antonio Vega. The icicle at the end of the chain dart was about to stab Vega…

Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a kunai attached to a piece of rope and a light blue flag appeared and blocked the attack before it could hit Vega. Sayori had found Vega on the roof and saved him from Iroyas.

Iroyas saw Sayori and decided to leave. As for Vega, he threw a smoke bomb on the ground and disappeared.

Meanwhile, Kuroninja noticed the water elemental no longer destroying stuff. He knew that this was his chance to sent the elemental back to the Water Dimension, or it would keep destroying stuff. Kuroninja activated his finisher, and sliced the water elemental with his sword. The water elemental then collapsed into a puddle of water.

Kuroninja then returned to the dojo, and at the same time, Sayori had also returned. Sayori went to find Antonio Vega, but he had left early. There was obviously something he was hiding.

Kuroninja then went to his secret lab, where Flower Ninja Ayame was. Ayame had something to show Kuroninja. Kuroninja Gold had found out something about the Nemesis Clan. They had placed a spy in Kuroninja’s Dojo. Kuroninja was shocked. Someone was giving information to Lord Nemesis from the inside.

Meanwhile, Lord Nemesis was in the guest room of the Shadōkyō Spire, along with Bronzar and a few Nemesis Clan soldiers. Necromega appeared and said that Lord Nemesis did a good job of amusing him by summoning the water elemental from the toilet. Lord Nemesis said that it was his spy, Agent 12’s idea to do it, and it would also turn the students against each other. Necromega then gave Lord Nemesis a Shadow Core, and told him to use it wisely.
