Kuroninja X Chapter 18

Chapter 18: The Redemption Trials

One day, the Bioninja Sentai Hanarangers attacked. Kuroninja had heard of this, but then Ayame stopped Kuroninja before he came to fight them. It seemed that Ayame had unfinished business with the Bioninja Hanarangers. Both of them headed for the area, transforming into their ranger forms. However, Kuroninja was unable to stop RoseRed because he was caught by thorny vines from the Bioninjas’ Bioninpo. Ayame tried to help Kuroninja, but failed to defeat RoseRed. “But...why can’t I stop them?” Ayame asked.

“You fool,” RoseRed said. “Our powers come from the force of evil. Only a powerful good guy can stop us, not some forgettable evil ranger like you!” Then the Bioninjas left.

Kuroninja asked Ayame if she was ok. Ayame needed to somehow gain the powers of good. But how?

Meanwhile, Kuroninja-10 was trying to ask the Interdimensional Guardians if he could have a powerup, since he was supposed to help defeat the Bioninja Organic Organization, but right now, he was feeling useless. That was when Jerek, the Interdimensional Guardian of Neutral Good, opened an orange portal to his other universe of Paradise. There, Kuroninja-10 would go through 10 Trials of good to get his new powerup, the Garnet of Good, which was the opposite to Anti-Kuroninja’s Emerald Of Evil.

Kuroninja and Ayame decided to take a trip to Kyoto, where they visited a shrine. This was where they first met, and it was also where Kuroninja joined the ranks of the Sentai Rangers by completing the Five Ninja Trials and reuniting the Flowery Kunoichi Team. Kuroninja wondered if there were trials of redemption. The deity of the shrine overheard Kuroninja and said “there is!” Then he began talking about how Ayame must now go through the 4 Redemption Trials. Ayame was nervous about this, but Kuroninja reminded Ayame that she had his support.

Trial 1: Simulation of Redemption

The first task was for Ayame to make sure a child (don’t worry, it’s just a hologram) can walk to the finish line without dying or getting hurt. The child walked under a bridge, which collapsed. Ayame ran under the bridge and held it up so that the kid could continue walking. It seemed to be going just fine, so Ayame just relaxed. But then, a fireball flew towards the kid. Ayame used her ninja skills to get there quickly, and shielded the kid from the fireball in time. The first trial was complete.

Trial 2: Punishment Of Redemption

The next task was for Ayame to catch a criminal and bring him to a judge. Ayame successfully caught the thief, and brought him to the judge. The judge asked Ayame what should happen to the thief. Ayame was about to say that he should be executed, but then remembered what Kuroninja did, since he saw the good in a lot of bad guys, including her. Ayame chose 1 month in jail as the criminal’s punishment and completed the trial.

Trial 3: Treasure Of Redemption

Next, Ayame had to save one thing from falling into lava, but the other thing would be lost in the lava forever. She had to choose between a large group of people, or an enormous pile of diamonds, gold, and money. Ayame chose the large group of people, and the diamonds fell into the lava, never to be seen again. The deity told Kuroninja that those diamonds were actually fake diamonds made from plastic, and the money and gold were also made of plastic. The trial was now complete.

Kuroninja and Ayame now completed the 4 Trials Of Redemption, but then Kuroninja remembered that there was supposed to be a 4th trial. But before they could go back, RoseRed returned. She began annoying Ayame, talking about how the Earth-10 Hanarangers were way better than the Earth-1 Hanarangers. Ayame got out her sword and charged at RoseRed, who used Ayame’s anger as an opportunity. She kicked Ayame in the face, knocking her out. Ayame’s consciousness began to fade, but Kuroninja didn’t want her to lose. She had went through 3 Trials already, and this must be her last one. Ayame needed to win. But Kuroninja had to help her recover somehow. Kuroninja kissed Ayame on the lips for 1 second before disappearing into the shadows. Ayame then woke up suddenly and stood up, prepared to face RoseRed.

Unlike last time, Ayame wasn’t going to fight RoseRed to prove that the Flowery Kunoichi Team was better than Bioninja Sentai Hanaranger. She was fighting RoseRed to protect the world from the bigger threat of the Bioninja Sentai Hanaranger. They both fought, but RoseRed couldn’t find an open opportunity to attack. Kuroninja then threw to Ayame his Kuroninja Shuriken for the finisher. KuroninjAyame then performed a synchronized attack on RoseRed, finishing her off. But before she could be defeated, LilacMagenta and ChrysanthemumYellow appeared to save RoseRed. Kuroninja and Ayame then high-5’d, as a symbol that KuroninjAyame was BACK.

Meanwhile, Anti-Kuroninja heard the news that Kuroninja and Ayame were an effective power couple again, so he decided to bring back the Robotic Assault Ninjas (RAN), except this time, he would upgrade them. Now, he was going to make the Impressive Mechanical Assassin, or IMA robot. The IMA was designed to look like Ayame’s ranger form.

Kuroninja and Ayame returned home, and they noticed Kuroninja-10 was missing.
